| In the dead of night, a body donated for organ transplants mysteriously disintegrates into ashes. Soon after, five recipients, given a heart, corneas, lungs, liver, and kidneys, begin to develop supernatural powers. A teenage girl gains immense strength, a hipster manipulates electromagnetic waves, a novelist summons powerful gusts, a factory manager can heal others, and a woman discovers a strange, still-unidentified ability. Together, they form a reluctant but heroic team known as "HI-FIVE." But they aren't the only ones transformed. A cult leader who received the donor’s pancreas gains the terrifying power to drain life energy and sets his sights on stealing the abilities of HI-FIVE to achieve godlike domination. | |

Don’t let the terrible title and bargain-bin poster put you off — this Korean superhero movie is an absolute blast, and I honestly had more fun with it than I have with most recent DCU and MCU outings. I found myself laughing far more than expected. The characters are absurdly likeable too — some ... thing many big-budget superhero films still struggle to get right — and you genuinely enjoy spending time with them between the action beats. It clearly doesn’t have the budget of its Hollywood counterparts, and some of the effects reflect that (think Kung Fu Hustle rather than Marvel polish). But the action is inventive, energetic, and so much fun that it’s easy to forgive the rough edges. The finale, in particular, is a riot — delivering the kind of crowd-pleasing payoff that the DCU and MCU so often fumble. Honestly, forget Marvel and DC,. I’d happily watch a lot more of these guys.
