David Matalon (July 5, 1943 — December 2, 2025) was an American producer and production manager. He worked at Columbia Pictures International from an undisclosed time until 1982, when he departed and co-founded Tri-Star Pictures. Following his time at Tri-Star, Matalon also worked for some time as a ... n independent producer. His credits included 1993’s What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Hear No Evil (both 1993), Color of Night (1994), and Breaking Up (1997). Further, Matalon led day-to-day operations at Regency from 1995 to 2008. During his tenure, Regency signed an exclusive 15-year distribution pact with 20th Century Fox, helping to solidify its place in the entertainment industry.
