Biography

Andy Kind is a British visual effects supervisor based in Framestore London. After completing a Master's degree in Computer Visualisation, he began his professional career in commercial visual effects and early film work before moving into larger projects in the cinema industry. His early credits in ... clude roles on Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) and Gladiator (2000). In 2002, he joined Framestore, the London-based visual effects and animation studio, where he took on technical and supervisory roles and contributed to numerous high-profile films. At Framestore, Kind worked as a CG Supervisor and later as a Visual Effects Supervisor on a wide variety of notable projects. As CG Supervisor, he worked on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), the intricate birth sequence in Children of Men (2006), and the underwater sequences in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005). He also contributed to the CG polar bears in The Golden Compass (2007). He also worked on the visual effects for the Sand Room sequence in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010). Progressing into visual effects supervision, Kind oversaw work on films including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) and its concluding Part 2 (2011), Gravity (2013), Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) and Paddington (2014). He continued his supervision work on the sequel, Paddington 2 (2017), and maintained an ongoing collaboration with director David Yates on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018). For Kind's work on Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018), he and his colleagues received a nomination for the 2019 BAFTA Film Award for Best Achievement in Special Visual Effects. He has also been part of visual effects teams nominated for Visual Effects Society Awards for his contributions to Children of Men (2006) and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), and the International Online Cinema Awards nomination for Paddington 2 (2017). More recently, his visual effects work includes The Secret Garden (2020), Tom & Jerry (2021), The Little Mermaid (2023) and How to Train Your Dragon (2025).
